There’s something special about painting and the process of creating Art. Time seems to disappear when I’m focused on a project. As a child I would spend summers with my grandma on her farm. She was a bohemian, artist and avid gardener. We played games making squiggly lines into drawings, and she showed me how individual each persons perspective is. Art is a beautiful expression of our inner self. I am grateful for her inspiration.
Courtney has worked as a model in the fashion industry since the late 90’s. Since then she has lived in NYC and traveled the world working on various jobs throughout the years. Always grateful for the opportunity to work with top fashion designers and photographers, as well as so many talented hair and makeup artists and stylists. There has been a great deal of influence from many creative people as well as inspiring places along her journey. She has always created art throughout the years. As a child painting and drawing with her grandmother who was a bohemian artist has inspired her in many ways. To sketch’s of her travels, and occasionally painting her loved ones and animals.
Recently she moved to an upstate NY town with her husband and two kids. All of them have a huge love of the outdoors and enjoy hiking and rock climbing, as well as paddle boarding, and all nature has to offer! Another passion of hers is horses. Since she was a child, horses have been a love and inspiration to her. She is currently helping to train her own horse, and has goals of trail riding and hunter pacing, liberty work, as well as dressage. “All my time spent with horses is soul filling. They have a grounding quality, and just being with them, smelling the farm air, grooming and riding is completely fulfilling to me! I feel like a kid again, with the same passion and excitement I’ve had since I first rode when I was 6 years old!” She donated two pieces of horse art ( a drawing on wood, and an oil on board) this past year for a horse therapy riding facility called Sprout in northern VA.
She has had more time this last year to focus on drawing and painting and has been exploring many different mediums including acrylic, charcoal, pencil on board, as well as oils. Also painting on photographs and clippings from magazines. She is now focusing on getting works together for a show and sharing her art for the first time.
“Creating art is a way of expressing your inner world, and the way our own experiences, and feelings seem to come through each piece is always surprising to me!”
